Happy New Year
01/05/2006
A consistent fitness program can help to reduce the occurrence of sore muscles, stiff joints and sprained ligaments for the "weekend warrior". But more importantly, those who train on a regular basis and focus on specific goals can not only improve their overall health, but also build a stronger body that will fare better during the aging process.
A fitness program that includes a balance of aerobic exercise, strength training, and stretching will provide the best overall result. Individuals that have health problems should carefully tailor their fitness program, with the guidance of their physicians, to prevent injury and avoid health risks. It is also a great idea to seek out the assistance of a personal trainer. Most health clubs have personal trainers on staff.
As you embark on your 2006 fitness program, make sure you tune into your body's response. You may experience general muscle soreness, which should dissipate within 1-2 days following rigorous work out. If you experience sharp pain during an exercise, stop the activity immediately. If the pain lingers after the activity and results in the limitation of movement or function, you should consult your physician. You may also contact an Integrity Physical Therapy facility to schedule a free injury screen by a qualified physical therapist and they can assist with the direction of your care.
Good luck with your 2006 fitness plan!!
